Chapter 8 Summary of the Mental Actions
Let me now sum up the mental activities and attitudes required to being well: The first is that you think that there is a Thinking Substance, which pervades and permeates the cosmos. This Substance want to share more of its life with the world. It is a universal principle of life and health.
To sum it up, man is a mind-body of original essence, and the ideas of his mind-body govern the functioning of his physical body. If someone just thinks about ideal health, his physical body will operate properly.
Your life’s mission is to completely exist on every level of your being. You must desire all of life in order to achieve harmony with all life. Harmony with All gives one access to a constant flow of vital energy; yet an angry, selfish, or hostile mind shuts it off. If you are against any portion, you have severed connections with all. You will only get life, but in a semi-unconscious and rote way. Mentally hostile people cannot be in total harmony with the Whole; thus, Jesus instructed people to reconcile themselves to everyone and everything before offering adoration.

Science of Getting Rich
Your next stage is to create a picture of oneself as in perfect health, and to suppress any other ideas that are not in alignment with this mental image. Believe you will succeed, and use your willpower to make it happen. No matter how you feel, never conceive of yourself as ill or in any way likely to get sick. And, as much as possible, forget illness when it comes to others. Make yourself surrounded by items that evoke notions of power and health.
Trust in health, and take it as a current truth in your life. Blessed health is something to be thankful for. Claim the benefit with confidence; know that it is yours, and never contradict yourself.
Don’t study illness, think about it, or talk about it. At all times, when you think about illness, replace the idea with feelings of gratefulness for your excellent health.
Form a concept of oneself in perfect health, and think exclusively of those ideas that are in accordance with that notion.
That includes faith, appreciation, and the desire to truly live. None of the mental exercises that are mentioned in Chapter VI are required, although doing fatiguing “stunts” like affirmations can help. Concentrating on the damaged portions is unnecessary; it is preferable not to conceive of anything as being impacted. Treating yourself or asking others to treat you in any manner is unnecessary. The Principle of Health inside you; and to bring this Principle into Constructive Action, it is only required to claim it by FAITH, and to maintain that claim until it is physically manifested in all the functions of your body.
Only healthy actions may express faith, appreciation, and good health. Continuing to act unwell will hinder your ability to maintain good health. Every thinking should be healthy, but every action should be done in a healthy way, as well. Therefore, it’s certain that every internal and unconscious function will eventually become healthy; for all the force of life is being constantly exerted toward it. Now we will explore how you may make every behavior healthy.
